Cam is really on a mission to become a world-class singer. After dominating the Grammy’s with two huge wins (best rap single + multiple tracks on the best rap album) Cam is dead focused on his solo album. Making the transition from producer to artist is something he’s talked about since I met him in 2014. He’s been working on this album for nearly 5 years after starting and having his laptop stolen. This time, it’s happening. We’re riding a major wave of productivity right now. The past 5 weeks have been monumental. We’ve recorded vocals to roughly 10 songs giving Cam the foundation to rehearse them. He’s created one new full song from scratch and one full interlude. We’re riding a major wave of productivity right now. The past 5 weeks have been monumental. We’ve recorded vocals to roughly 10 songs giving Cam the foundation to rehearse them. He’s created one new full song from scratch and one full interlude. We started the final vocals to one song yesterday and started them to a second today. He spent 8 hours recording one verse and pre-hook. We have hundreds of takes saved in playlists for review and hundreds that missed the cut. I don’t even know if these will be the final vocals but he’s putting in SERIOUS work.

The Goods:

We got through a full lead for the verse and pre-hook along with a few lines of the hook. I’m baffled most days I work with Cam. Although it’s slow, it’s tedious, it’s effective and he’s building serious muscle in the vocal department. This album is going to be very meaningful to a lot of people. Cam is surprisingly great as a writer which caught me off guard. The songs are really fun, beautiful and real depicting stories throughout his life. I can’t wait to see some of these get to the final stages so we can move to the next phase!
