RECAP:

Spent the afternoon going over sessions with Cam O’bi getting a few more tracks from his upcoming album organized. We started off working on his first single, a song called “Dying” that he wrote and produced all of the music for. Faced with some tough decisions revolving around an old demo version we all love or the new polished recording. Unfortunately Cam’s laptop was stolen so we lost all the files to the instrumental and all the processed vocal files from the original. Fortunately we have the dry vocal stems, which is what we worked on for a majority of the day. We wanted to get the vocals to sound as close as we possibly could to his original demo version (which he recorded in GarageBand on his internal Mic!!). Then after I matched the vocal sound so we couldn’t tell a difference from the original to the new version we created today we started to pair it with various instrumentals. He has the original instrumental as a 2track bounce, a few variations of that which came from Cam trying to recreate the track. Ultimately now the decisions need to be made by making a combination of all the versions and picking the best one. After that we had to work on two more tracks Cam had tuned vocals for. He likes to take them home to Melodyne them or in this case he used the newest version of Frooty Loops since they added a powerful vocal tuner. Got all of that done in 4 hours today, very solid recording session today!
