Welcome the Grace Design m905
I performed brain surgery at the studio today. As I see it, the converter is the heart and the monitor controller is the brain. Our old brain, the Dangerous D-Box offered features we’re ditching for greener pastures. We won’t be summing anymore, which changes the patch bay configuration and how the entire old system was set up. As I started stripping away cables I realized I signed myself up for more than I planned. At first, it was meant to be a simple swap. I ran into a few issues I hadn’t been thinking about like where certain pieces of gear were going or cables reaching new gear etc. Got it all sorted and realized it was also time to remove the old computer from the studio, for good. I finally made that commitment. From there, I also realized the way the power
From there, I realized the way the power setup was configured was not thought out properly and the cables were not plugged in as clean as they could be.
I started from ground 0 and put it all back together again. Took me about 5 hours to do alone, had to think out some issues and make sure everything was reconnected properly. The best part is turning on the computer for the first time to find out everything works! I did have one issue, getting out of Pro Tools and into the Grace Design m905. The patch bay was D-Sub out from the Lynx to D-Sub in so I didn’t have cables to break out into the Grace. I patched from the patch bay into the Grace for now. Creative problem solving when your back is against the wall. All set for the sessions tomorrow!
