RECAP:

No better way to end the month than in session with Towkio after the crazy month he’s just had! When he arrived my first question was “What did I miss at Shangri-La!?” And he played me the track they made with Rick Rubin’s original 808… Towkio has a hit song in the oven. He’s got several big sounding records but this last one they just made is special. He talked about it in our sessions before Shangri-La, he talked about it out there every day and he made the “Disco” sounding record he’d be speaking about. It took me by surprise as it’s not an actual disco record musically, or at least not yet.. But it’s CATCHY and it sounds like a classic Rick Rubin production from the 80’s or 90’s.

We listened back to a lot of the music he’d just made out at Shangri-LA. He mentioned a new package he just got from Kaytranada and my ears perked up.. Huge fan of Kaytranada and of course Towkio consistently has amazing production. He has one of the best ears for finding music that I’ve seen in a long time.

I plugged up an SM57 for him as he cycled through tracks we recorded his ideas. He had 4 or 5 ideas that turned out to be something he can easily work with and shape into a song.

To end the night we worked on a song temporarily called “Gem”. We picked up where the song was left off and added a new section before calling it a night. I’m a huge fan of Towkio (as you’d know from reading previous posts about our work together) along with a genuine friendship we’ve been developing through all of our work.. It’s always a great time when we get to make music and hang out.

I’m thankful this was the last session to an absolutely unreal month of music at Truth Studios. 2016 is going to be a legendary year for us, a lot of music we’re working on is going to be released and we’ll be pushing as hard as possible to promote it for each of our client/community/family members.

Writer, producer, singer, rapper from Chicago. Part of SAVE MONEY affiliated with Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment. Most famously known for WAV Theory album, collaborations with Lido, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa and many more.

Truth Studios is a boutique recording studio located in the Fairfax district of Hollywood, Los Angeles California. We are across the street from the famous CBS Television City studios and down the street from The Grove.
