RECAP:

I had a 3-hour recording session with Thomas DaVinci tonight. He produced the track and brought in the WAV instrumental mix, stem groups of each instrument and all individual files. Unfortunately, one of the files in the individual parts wasn’t bounced correctly so we worked off the stems. I set up the Pro Tools session and we ran through the song a few times while I got our levels set. We recorded a few takes through the entire song and went through each section part by part to get the final vocals. It surprised both of us by how quickly we got through recording the song.

After we cut all the vocals I started to go through the track to clean it up and put a light mix together. I was tracking in headphones and running through a De-esser on the way in but we had a sharp sibilance frequency that I had to turn down for each word. Once I ran through that I started to process the vocals and get the track into a place we both felt good with.

Great session tonight! I always enjoy working with Thomas, he’s got so much talent and we always have great conversations. Perfect way to end the year before I head out to Utah.
