RECAP:

Mixing day at the dojo :). Bijan dropped of files for a new song and I’ve been looking forward to this one since he first played it for me. Unfortunately, I didn’t have all the vocal files so I was only able to work on the music and hook vocals in my session. Started off with the drums, I wanted to make them more punchy and full so I used EQ and compression to help blow them up. Next was the lead guitar track. It sounded like it was a cheap DI plugin and I wanted to make it feel more like a real guitar. I ran it through a series of effects and gave it more tone and depth. The rest of the instruments were fairly easy to place after working out the guitar and drums.

I’m very happy with the direction and progress I made today. Bijan has an interesting story and I’m excited to see his album come together. This is the 4th single I’ve mixed with him and we’re aiming to finish them all before the end of the year.
