Lorine Chia – Crazy (Live at Truth Studios)

We’re very excited to announce the second video from our new series Live at Truth Studios is online! This video features Lorine Chia & J Keller who are releasing a joint EP on Wednesday. It also has a verse from Rome Castille and Electric Violin by Chris James. JP (J Keller) was the first person to play me music by Lorine as she was featured on a number of Blended Babies tracks over the past few years. I always loved her Bluesy style and the tone of her voice so when they agreed to do this with us I was really excited.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION:

I wasn’t sure who was coming or what we needed and they arrived late to the studio so we had to fly fast. I picked a 414 for JP’s guitar because that’s my favorite mic for acoustics. Went DI into the Great River with the electric violin. Rome was on the U87 which is always fantastic for rap vocals, that ran through the BA 1084. Lorine was on the Sennheiser 441 because it’s a super cardioid and I thought she may move around so it would give us the least amount of phase issues.  Doesn’t hurt that it’s also small and doesn’t cover her entire face when she’s performing.
