I am so thankful for Simz bringing me on to mix this album!!! I really can’t express the gratitude I have for her allowing me to work on such a special album. This is easily the best album I’ve ever mixed in its entirety. The music was recorded so well and the producer and musicians got some of the best tones I’ve ever put my hands and ears on. I really hope people take in the entire scope of this album for what it is. Simz wrote the best songs and verses I’ve ever heard from her. I’ve been a long time fan of hers and seen so much growth. The world they created for this project is phenomenal!
The stems from their recording sessions sound AMAZING which makes my job really fun. I did a lot of work to her vocals as they were recorded with the most problems. From there, I played with the position of each instrument and made sure there was space for each piece. Kept a lot of dynamics at play throughout the project which gives it great emotional movement. This is one of the most interesting sound scapes I’ve ever worked with and it was so inspiring for me to work on it. Nearly done with 7 songs from today, 12 hours into it and I’m cooked. Can’t wait to pick it back up tomorrow morning!!
