RECAP:
Long day today for 2 reasons! One, the session was 10 hours long even though it didn’t feel it the effects started to sink in when we ended. Two, I pulled all of the power cables out of the gear, switched some of the outboard around and re-arranged everything. Really happy with the way the studio continues to progress! I ordered a Mac Pro and Pro Tools 12 HD Native this morning, another huge step forward !
Back to the session, Dom came in a few hours early to write and grab files from different tracks we’ve recorded over. James arrived on time and got right into creating with Dom. The two worked out several ideas for them to build out and James picked the first one to start recording vocals over. We recorded the music in from Dom’s laptop through a digital input while James sang to it. He did two 10+ minute takes and laid a number of amazing bits down. After recording he crashed and ended up taking a nap on the couch.
Antony and Tone started tracking Piano and Guitar while James caught some Z’s. I had to ride the inputs for both guys as they were recording because their levels would jump from idea to idea. They did two long takes for Dom to sift through then Dom and Antony did a take on piano and guitar. The guys listened back to a lot of the material we recorded and spend the rest of the night listening to new music they’ve been making. Great productive session today !!
