RECAP:

Couldn’t have asked for a better 4 hour writing session! We started off listening to beats and reviewing some songs. Once the group landed on the first track I created a session and set up for writing. Estelle went in and started cutting the first verse while the guys provided their insight as to ways it could be improved. After a few takes she started getting into it and crushing her performances. Each take had slightly different character and delivery so we kept going until we felt there was enough to comp. We went to the second verse and followed the same template to get that verse and all the options the group wanted. We moved to record the pre hook which she knocked out in a handful of takes.

After getting those sections down all we had left was the hook. At this point she was warmed up and in the zone! The hook takes sounded incredible !! We ran through a handful of takes on the hook before feeling like we had it in the bag. After the hook Fresh decided to have her run the verses one more time for extras since she was singing perfectly with the music now. We knocked out a full song within a few hours and it sounds GREAT !

Recording Idea #2:

After the first song was recorded Walter sent me a second beat to cue up. I put the session together and within minutes K-O had a great verse melody going. He went in the booth and laid down a few tracks which lead to Fresh getting inspired and going in to record what would later become the hook and second verse. It came together VERY fast. K-O went back in over Fresh’s parts and started to lay some really great reference vocals. He laid harmonies and created a few parts as he got more into the song.. I’d say this was one of my favorite writing sessions I’ve been a part of.. Two songs in four hours that feel really good, energy was great through the entire session !!
