RECAP:

Another session with Demrick working on his new EP. We focused on one new song tonight and I’d say it’s 100% recorded. Sounds fucking awesome! He killed it, we got a great sound from all the gear Gods tonight and had smooth sailing for the entire session.

Recording details:

I set up the Sony C800-G again because it’s a Sony C800-G ;). We loaded up one of the ideas from last night and wiped the slate clean. Demrick recorded the first verse three or four times so we had options if we needed to comp a line here and there for annunciation. Knocked out the hook next and built out some double layers on it to fill it out. He was messing around with background ideas and landed on a great melody so we threw that in and I built an effect around it. Moved onto the second verse which he recorded a few more times than the first. It’s the newer of the two, I’d say we did roughly 10 takes although not all of them were full takes.

Once we got all the pieces in I went to work on comping. Listened to every line of every take and tried to pull words I wanted to hear cleaner etc. Built out the leads for the entire song, did some vocal-alignment work to really dial it in and we were very happy with the results from this one. It took a majority of the time, roughly 3 hours from start to finish. Great work though, very pleased with this song I think it’s going to be a popular one!

I cued up a beat I have from Jordan XL because Demrick and Euroz were really into it. They both laid ideas but it was the end of the session so I bounced out the rough and we’re going to pick it up next time we get in.
