RECAP:

Big day today, I think it’s safe to say Cam finished the final vocals on his first song for his debut album. We’ve been recording hundreds of takes as Cam searches for the right delivery, pitch, inflection, character and feeling of every word for his song. I would expect no less from Cam after working with him for years I know he has incredible dedication to arrive at his goal as he envisions it.

We left my apartment around 10:30 to head in for our session, Cam started with his vocal chord warm ups and physical exercises. I pulled up the session and got organized for the new vocals to slide in. We started recording in longer pieces than we did yesterday which was a sign to me that Cam is getting very comfortable with the song.

He’s mesmerized the lyrics, dialed in his warm up routine and is extremely focused on completing this album. The way he’s approaching this album is similar to how a high caliber athlete trains to win the championship.  Cam has completely changed his diet, sleeping pattern, exercises and vocal training to develop as a singer.

The Session:

We recorded for 6 straight hours and piled up a few hundred takes throughout the construction of this verse. After getting through it we took a short break for fresh air and returned to comp it. We did the comp work in two stages:

1. Evaluate every take in the playlists and mark good or bad
2. Comp the best words out of each section to build the first base lead

I purchased an upgrade to Melodyne since my previous version wasn’t compatible with the new OS and new Pro Tools. We’ll get busy tuning tomorrow and aim to have all the components of this first song ready to be mixed by the end of the weekend!
