First recording session of the week / new month with Blu is a sign of good things to come. One of my all time favorite rappers Blu continues to rip crazy verses over insane production. Exactly what I want to hear being that I’m very anti what I’ll call “basic rap” for arguments sake. Always love hearing a great sample chopped up with a story and thoughtful punchlines and metaphors. Recorded a few new tracks in 2 hours (he always comes in repaired and ready to work, it’s rare to have to record a verse more than 5 times with him). Usually one takes on full songs, one takes on any doubles or adlibs and he knows what he wants done in the studio.

I’ve been a huge fan of Blu since 2008 when Glenn gave me Below The Heaves (one of my favorite all time rap albums) and changed my perspective of the music business entirely when I found out about the underground circuit and where the real talent lies in this businesses of music.

He gave me a new vinyl single from a song we had recorded last year called “Thelonius King”. Another surprise when he told me “Clean Hand” the song we did over a Pete Rock beat was made on Vinyl and he has one coming for me next week. Very proud of these both for myself as an engineer and Truth Studios to be a part of.
