Incredible surprise today… Booked a last minute session with Blu who told me he’d just started a new album with Exile and we’d be recording over Exile beats all day. Today was one of the most memorable days for me as an engineer because I’m such a huge fan of Blu & Exile as a music team. Their debut album “Below The Heavens” is one of my top 5 all time rap albums. It changed my whole view on rap music when I heard it because it was so different than what was popular in music/rap at the time. I’ve always had very high respect for both of them so for me to work on a new album with them is a huge honor. We recorded a song today that was over seven and a half minutes long, straight rap for over 270 bars. Un-fucking-real. I caught him reading the lyrics before we started (as seen above in the picture) and filmed but I can’t post anything up. We had to do several punches but he wants to come back and record a version where he does the whole song in one take… Which should be like a world record. Heard some beats that were unlike anything I’d ever heard from Exile. Really curious to see how this album turns out since I have such high expectations. Today was one for the history books.
