RECAP:

It’s been a short while since I last saw Chauncy Sherod.. When we first met he was going by the name Rocki Evans. After multiple releases with that name he joined a group by the name of Charlie Red.. And from Charlie Red he’s transitioned into his actual government name Chauncy Sherod. We originally met through Thurz and Rich Kidd when Chauncy came to a session to work with those guys. We hit it off and had a string of sessions over the following days from first meeting. During the second session we had we made “Warms The Soul”, one of my favorite recordings to ever happen at Truth.

Years later Chauncy contacted me and said “are you ready to make a part two bro?” and we got together shortly after. He’s a very raw talent and watching him sing is incredibly inspiring every single time.

We started with some warm up takes through the whole song. After the warm ups we started laying some background tracks and stacking harmonies. When we finished recording the background vocals I put them through a distortion effect and tucked them down so they wouldn’t get in his way recording the lead. We ran it 4 or 5 times because it sounded so good, the 4th track was the one. I filmed the session and we’ll have a video recording “Warms The Soul Part II” out next week!
