How do you properly celebrate the release of your latest EP? Buy a dozen donuts, eat two  immediately because they just came out hot and record a new song! Well, that’s what we did last night. Nottz is in town working with an artist that said his album is coming out February 11th (you can figure that out, right?) so he wanted to link with Asher since the RAWTHER EP came out today. The EP is a collaborative body of work from Asher Roth, Nottz Raw, and Travis Barker (of Blink 182). Asher and I recorded two of the 4 full songs from the EP (my favorite is Blow Yr Head). I’m glad to have contributed a small part of work to that awesome project. Nottz and Travis outdid themselves for the EP, the beats are RIDICULOUS !

We spent the two hours hanging out while talking and eating donuts. I won’t name the donuts to spare you the feeling of really missing out on a great celebration. Nottz plugged in his iPad and went through at least 100 beats. Every single one was a banger just waiting for the right artist to select it and make magic. Asher picked the very first beat Nottz played, we both agreed that one was special. Every 3 minutes there was an “Oh My God! THAT’S RIDICULOUS !!” because Nottz makes incredible beats.

We finally set up a session for the first beat he played and Asher wrote until he felt the weight of what time it was (2am) and we recorded his verse. I’d say it was about 32 bars or so, it fit right in with the Rawther EP style and we had some good laughs as usual.

I took about 900 pictures (no joke) so I can do some stop motion session summaries. Stay on the lookout for a new Asher Roth & Nottz Raw track (tentatively titled DoNUTS) along with some cool new visuals from our Instagram.
