Very last minute session as the schedule today was a bit hectic. Had a 6p-2a cancel, booked a session in place then ended up double booking another from 6p-2a. First session with Ricky Hil after hearing his name for a long time being around Dom Kennedy and Polyester. We talked for a bit, got to listen to his new album that’s coming out later this month. Vibed to some tracks he’s been considering writing to and finally picked one produced by Blended Babies. Pretty quick to write the full track, lots of smoke breaks along the way but he didn’t write anything down. Went in the booth and started flowing line after line and we’d get through a section, stop and arrange then see where we landed. Fun first session, really like the track we made it’s catchy. He’s got a few different projects he’s working on, one of which is a full out Punk band and he’s the lead singer. Impressed by him doing things outside of the box most people seem to be in at the moment. Spent some time mixing the track down after he left since I was feeling inspired to work on it.
