RECAP:

I Spent 8 hours in the studio with the five members of Trill Youngins and Phil Crown making music tonight !! Tons of laughs, a little heated moment or two and three new songs later.. I’d say it was a very successful session. It was my first time working with all five members: Clear, Capolow, LayEm Down, Mitche, and Sonnie. They all have unique voices and styles which combined make a very interesting dynamic. We started out polishing off one song the guys had already started. Shortly after, LayEm pulled up a hard drive and after I played the first beat the guys started writing. They went from hearing the beat for the first time to writing the hook and song concept then filling in two 16 bar sections with two 8 bar verses, one from each member.

After banging out the first one we followed suit with a second in much the same way. This time, instead of two 8 bar verses to fill a 16 bar slot the guys decided to write four 4 bar seconds for each verse. They moved extremely fast and efficiently through writing and recording the entire song. Tons of energy from each artist, they all have unique character and the track came together as our favorite one for the night.

The studio started in the bedroom of studio owner Nick Breton’s apartment making music with local Los Angeles buzzing artists.
