RECAP:

The first of 15 days with Rejjie Snow! Thanks to Pat for connecting us, Cam and Rejjie will be working together over the next month to put together Rejjie’s next album. Rejjie has a great vocal tone and he’s a strong writer so I’m really looking forward to all of these sessions.

Our first session was not with Cam, Rejjie had a song he’s working on with a producer named Sofie (formally on Stones Throw, currently with Boiler Room TV). She arrived with her Roland SP-404 which means instant total respect in my book. Unfortunately her volume nob is broken so getting signal out was a bit tricky. We also couldn’t get the stems to the track we worked on and her beats export about 10 dB louder on the left side.

We recorded the first track then Rejjie went to get lunch. I worked on the mix and started playing with some vocal effects. Eventually I stripped everything down to minimal EQ, Compression, Reverb and Delay throws on certain gaps.

Our first session was very laid back. We knocked out one full song and a second idea. To be continued next week!

Truth Studios is a boutique recording studio located in the Fairfax district of Hollywood, Los Angeles California. We are across the street from the famous CBS Television City studios and down the street from The Grove. Truth Studios started in the bedroom of owner Nick Breton’s apartment making music with local Los Angeles buzzing artists.
