RECAP:

Ask the universe for what you want. Think about it, speak about it and will it to happen. I grew up listening to folk music and lately I have been hoping to get in the studio to record more of it. Raury stands at the crossroads for Hip-Hop and Folk and tonight he wanted to dedicate the session to recording acoustic guitar. I told him how I’d been hoping for sessions like this and he said “Well, here I am !”.

We spent a few minutes catching up since I haven’t seem him after his Australia and Europe Tours. We picked up right where we left off. I opened one of the sessions from our last stretch of time together and we started organizing it how he wanted. Once we sorted the session out Raury started to rehearse his guitar parts. I set up an AGK 414 in Omni per Dominic’s recommendation and we started recording. After three or four passes of Raury recording guitar we had enough to work with. He also punched a specific verse section that we discussed ideas for. We landed on the idea to have the chords arpeggiated instead of strummed on the verse and recorded a few takes.

After recording guitar, we ran a few takes of Raury recording vocals because he sounded great through that mic. Awesome song in the works, I’m excited to see this one come together !!

We are across the street from the famous CBS Television City studios and down the street from The Grove.
